New Oppostracts Series

New Oppostracts Series

Originally issued: Aug 16, 2016. Revised content: May 12, 2020. Florida fine art photographer, John Hintz, announced today the introduction of a New Series of images titled Oppostracts.

The term Oppostracts is a combination of the words OPPOSITE (in this case it refers to the colors) and ABSTRACT (more specifically, abstract images found in nature). The subject matter of the Oppostracts being introduced includes driftwood, tree roots and bark, vines, reeds, seaweed and barnacles. Subject matter for future images could be just about anything as long as it is found in nature.

In the words of the artist, While working on two similar Series (Swamptacular which only included images captured in swamps and JNH Palms which focused exclusively on palm trees), I developed a real fascination for nature. My interest has become so strong, in fact, Ive decided to make natural abstracts my new main focus. I hope my images and my approach to these...

New Swamptacular Series

Originally issued: April 16, 2015. Revised content: May 12, 2020. Florida fine art photographer, John Hintz, announced today the introduction of a New Series of images titled Swamptacular.

The new series consists of twenty-two images taken on an unusually cold and gray day in November, 2014 at Six Mile Cypress near Fort Meyers, Florida. In the words of the artist, Most of the images I captured, although interesting, lacked the color and crispness I was aiming for. I got some really nice reflections, silhouettes, close-ups and natural abstracts, but they just didnt have much pop. Determined to make this series of images worthy of uploading to my website, I started experimenting with my processing software and eventually found that simply switching each image to a color negative effectively brought out the hidden detail while the new palette of intriguing colors provided the energy I was looking for. Hence the name, SWAMPTACULAR!
